Hello, I’m Dan (he/him)
I use a person-centered approach to help you develop the resources to feel secure, overcome struggles, and create a fulfilling life.
My Core Beliefs
Healthy relationships heal.
Vulnerability leads to growth.
When someone treats us like we matter, we believe we matter.
My Approach
From an early age, I learned that feeling safe meant keeping everyone else happy, which often left me questioning whether I was good enough. My efforts to heal and grow have been most successful when I have the support of people who consistently care about my needs.
These relationships taught me that I have the resources to be self-compassionate and feel safe in my emotions. They also helped me learn that people can change when given the right conditions, and the lessons I learned became the foundation of my approach to therapy.
My goal as your therapist is to build an authentic, caring, and accepting relationship so that you can learn to care for and accept your authentic self.
On a personal note
I never really grew out of my emo phase. I wear black, paint my nails, and express myself through music. Sometimes, these expressions became songs I performed in one of my bands. These days, however, I mostly dream about adventures with my wife instead of being a rockstar.
I am LGBTQ+ affirming and believe in your inherent worth as a person. I do not discriminate based on ethnicity, race, nationality, immigration status, religion/spirituality, size, age, socioeconomic status, or physical/mental abilities. If significant differences exist between our culture or belief system, I will work to understand them.
One of my favorite parts of being a counselor is learning from you as you share who you are with me. Whether it's anime, video games, sports, motorcycles, or real estate, I look forward to hearing about your passions and joining you on your journey.
My favorite fandoms include Avatar: The Last Airbender, Steven Universe, Minecraft, and, more recently, Dungeons & Dragons.
